Samsung working on 6.3 inch screen Galaxy Note

Samsung is reported to be working on a Galaxy Note having screen of 6.3 inch.

Samsung has pioneered the segment which is between of a tablet and smartphone, can be calles as "phablet". Earlier devices of this segment failed to attract public, because they were heavy and not user friendly, but there's no such problem with Galaxy Note. 

Samsung has designed every Galaxy Note keeping the "ease of access" in the mind, which resulted in the bumper sale of Note Series Galaxy Smartphones. Last month, Samsung reported that it has sold 5 million units of the Galaxy Note 2 in two months. 

The report has been shown in Korea Times, according to which Samsung has planned to show something special in the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2013, in February 2013. It can be the new Galaxy S IV.

Til then we will wait for the new super-sized Galaxy Note.

Galaxy Note II is going to have Android 4.1.2 update

This is a joyful news for owners of Galaxy Note II. The device is going to get powered by Android 4.1.2 update for the international handset, Galaxy Note GT-N7100. The update will be fresh and new however most of the people think that it's not a big update. But after all, its official update. It is supposed that this update will bring new notification panel, speed issues, disabling the multi-view, a new lock screen, updated Google Now and bug removal. It will soon make its way on Kies and Over The Air on devices.

Android is on top of the market share

Android is king again. This year's Gartner's report says this. Android‘s overall smartphone market share has jumped to 72.4% in Q3 2012, up from 52.5% in the same period last year.

Apple has got reduction. Its smartphone OS, iOS has fall down from 15% to 13.9%. Microsoft is again struggling at the bottom, its Windows Phone managed to grow from 1.5% to 2.4%. Another player, Samsung’s Bada managed to increase its market share, from 1.5% to 2.4%.

But when talk comes to sales of devices, there is the king: Samsung. Samsung sold 97,956 devices in 3Q 2012 and secured 22.9% market share, while last year it was 18.7% with sales of 82,612 devices. A few time ago, samsung announced that 30 million units of Galaxy SIII have been sold.

Nokia is on the second place holding 19.2% of the market share while Apple is on third with 5.5% of market share. Other figures are as follows.

Apple got the patent for virtual page turn

Apple now holds the patent ownership of the "page turn". This patent was approved by the United States Patent Office for “Display screen or portion thereof with animated graphical user interface.”

This patent was one of the 38 patents that were granted to Apple this week. This patent holding will changing the future as Apple may charge other devices and operating systems if they hold such feature. However, the devices released before this patent were remain unaffected.

The New York Times points out that this isn’t the first “seemingly obvious” patent that Apple has been awarded. The company was also granted a patent for the musical note icon it uses to represent iTunes and the glass staircase it uses it stores.

As you all know, the famous battle for patents between Apple and Samsung, which resulted in Apple walking away with $1 billion, from Samsung.

Apple and HTC have also set an agreement according to which Apple will license its patented technologies for 10 years. HTC will pay Apple $6-$8 per Android phone they have released. 

Galaxy Cam will be released on 8 Nov in UK

Galaxy Camera will be available across the UK from November 8th. The Galaxy Camera runs Android 4.1 and has a similar interface to Samsung's Galaxy line of smartphones. 

This camera doesn't make phone calls, but it can access Google Play and apps like Skype. It's a camera first and foremost, then, and has a 16-megapixel 1/2.3" sensor and an f/2.8 21x optical zoom lens to prove it.

Like some of the newest smartphones on the block, the Galaxy Camera will come running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest version of Android. That means better Instagram photos — and more importantly the ability to share the pictures you take with your camera instantly with friends on web.

“Wirelessly enabling Samsung’s Galaxy Camera will create a significant shift in how consumers share and communicate with photos and videos,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, AT&T Emerging Devices in a statement.

The camera also borrows some features from Samsung’s popular Galaxy S III smartphone such as AllShare Play, which allows you to transfer photos between other Samsung devices connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and Buddy Photo Share which automatically tags faces of existing device contact in photos.

Apple's tablet market falls to 50.4%

The old Silicon Valley joke, which claimed that “there is no tablet market, only an iPad market,” is obviously no longer true. 

Apple‘s tablet market share has dropped to 50.4% in Q3 2012, down from 59.7% in the same period last year, IDC’s latest report reveals.

Samsung, on the other hand, has experienced huge growth, jumping from 6.5% to 18.4% in that same period. Amazon holds the third place with 9%, followed by Asus with 8.6% and Lenovo with 1.4%.

According to IDC’s numbers, Samsung shipped 5.1 million tablets worldwide in 3Q12, up 115% from 2Q12 and 325% from 3Q11.

Amazon is in good position because rapidly expanding Kindle Fire lineup has helped it double its market share quarter-over-quarter.

30 million units of Galaxy S3 are sold

Samsung has released the sales figures and according to them, the company has sold, 30 million Samsung Galaxy S III devices worldwide. That’s quite the impressive figure, and shows a substantial growth of 10 million units in just two months. Samsung’s announcement comes on the heels of news in which the company said 3 million Galaxy Note II units have been sold across the world.

It’s fantastic news for Samsung, and Android as a whole, as we head into the busy holiday season. Samsung revealed just how much time and effort went into the making of its S III, and the numerous rave reviews — and now, sales — show it was all time well spent. With Jelly Bean rolling out to the device all over the world, the sales are expected to only increase during the final stretch of 2012.

Samsung ATIV Odyssey Windows Phone 8 device coming soon

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer just revealed that the Samsung ATIV Odyssey Windows Phone 8 smartphone will be coming to Verizon Wireless this December. The Odyssey is Samsung's first ATIV smartphone in the US and joins the HTC Windows Phone 8X and Nokia Lumia 822 in Verizon's Windows Phone 8 lineup. However, Microsoft did not provide and details regarding Odyssey's specs or pricing.

Galaxy SIII mini unveiled

We knew it was coming, but Samsung has officially announced the Samsung Galaxy S3′s little brother…the Galaxy S3 Mini. The device is built in a similar style to that of its big brother, but aimed at those looking for a mid-end smartphone, with a mid-end budget.

Samsung hasn't yet provided details about availability or pricing. 

“The Galaxy S3 introduced a new concept of smartphone that has proven hugely popular around the world,” says JK Shin, President and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “We’re now delighted to bring its revolutionary design, intuitive usability and intelligence to the Galaxy S3 Mni in a more compact form. We continue to make every effort to provide extraordinary mobile experiences to meet a wide variety of user needs.”

Samsung rolling out JellyBean

Samsung has started rolling Android 4.1.1 or Jelly Bean updates for its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3.

It was earlier said that Galaxy S3 will receive JellyBean update on 29th of August 2012. However, it was just a rumor. But this time news are true.

The first country to receive the update is Poland, and users in other European countries can expect it soon as well — no later than October.

Samsung has also announced the full list of devices that will get the Jelly Bean upgrade sometime in the future. The devices are: Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy Mini 2, Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Music.

Samsung ATIV Tab launched

Samsung unveiled its first Windows RT tablet on Wednesday during the 2012 IFA conference in Berlin. The 10.1-inch ATIV Tab features a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, along with a HD (1,366x768) LCD display, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro HDMI and NFC capabilities. It weighs in at 1.25 pounds and is 0.35 inches thick.

The tablet is part of Samsung’s new ATIV product series — a name that is the reverse order of the word “vita,” meaning “Life” in Latin — and includes the world’s first Windows 8 phone. The company said the new products are a part effort to “make life easier for everyone.”

Windows RT is the version of Windows 8 made to run on devices powered by ARM-based processors, as opposed to traditional chips made by Intel and AMD. A variant of the Microsoft’s Surface tablet will also run Windows RT. Machines running Windows RT should have favorable battery life but won’t be able to run apps made for older versions of Windows.

The company noted that the ATIV Tab will come with Office Home and Student RT, which offers the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Microsoft has said all Windows RT devices will come packaged with Office. The tablet also comes with a 8,200 mAh battery.

GALAXY S3 Finally Unveiled

Finally, Samsung has released the most awaited Galaxy S3.

We’ve been hearing the rumors for months, and now Samsung has gotten official with the newest member of its Galaxy line of smartphones, the Galaxy S III.

Samsung announced the most anticipated Android handset of the year Thursday at an event in London. The phone is the third-generation in a line of popular smartphones created by Samsung.

The phone has a 4.8-inch touchscreen, 8-megapixel rear-facing and 1.9-megapixel forward-facing camera, and comes running the latest version of Android — Ice Cream Sandwich. Much like the HTC One X, the camera has zero shutter lag so you can capture photos instantly. The camera is also capable of taking 20 photos at once in burst mode, and a feature called “Best Photo” will pick the best shot out of a group of eight.

The NFC-capable Galaxy S III has a Super AMOLED HD (1280×720) screen, offering more subpixels than other screens, resulting in improved colors as well as better visibility in bright situations.

New Features

A new feature called ‘Smart Stay’ on the phone detects your voice and motions, and recognizes how you are using the phone –for instance reading an e-book or browsing the web –and keeps the phone on while you’re using it. So, if you’re reading a book you don’t have to worry about having to constantly wake the screen up.

If you’re texting someone and decide to call them instead, a feature called ‘Direct Call’ will call that person as soon as you lift your phone to your ear.

A new feature called 'S Voice’ enables the phone to listen an respond to your words, and provides Siri-like search and voice control. You can ask the phone to “snooze” when your alarm goes off in the morning and you need a few more Zs, can be used to play your favorite songs, turn the volume up or down, send text messages and emails, organize your schedules, or automatically launch the camera and capture a photo.

A feature called 'Buddy Photo' Share will recognize your friends faces in a photo, and offer to send them the photo automatically.

With the Galaxy S III Samsung is unveiling a new ‘S Beam’ which expands on Android Beam, allowing you to share a 1GB mobile file with a friend in just 3 minutes, or transfer a 10MB music file in just 2 seconds—without using WiFi or a cellular signal – by tapping your phone together with another Galaxy S III.

A feature called “AllShare Cast” lets you connect your Galaxy S III wirelessly to your television to view content. The service can also be used to share files between your galaxy S II and your tablet, PC, and televisions regardless of the distance between the devices.

The Galaxy S III will be available in 145 countries, on 296 mobile operators around the world., making it the most largest launch in Samsung history. Available in ‘Pebble Blue’ and ‘Marble White,’ the phone will be available from the end of May in Europe before rolling out to other markets globally this summer.

Samsung will unveil new Galaxy on May 3

Samsung has started sending out invites for the launch of the next Galaxy smartphone, which is slated for May 3 in London.The invite doesn't give any details about the upcoming device(s) — it merely says “come and meet the next Galaxy.”

However, we know that the company plans to reveal Samsung Galaxy S III, which was rumored to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but Samsung decided to move the launch to a later date.

In any case, Samsung will have to show something truly spectacular if it wants to top the Tegra 3 powerhouses from HTC.

Galaxy Tab 2.0.7 coming in India

Samsung has announced at the on-going South-West Asia Regional forum that it will be launching recently announced Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 aka Tab 310 in South-West Asia including India next month. There is no word on the exact launch date or the pricing as of now.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the successor of the original Galaxy Tab and comes with features like Android 4.0, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 7-inch 1024×600 PLS LCD display, 3MP rear camera, and a VGA camera on front. Other specs include HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS and a 4000mAh battery. Company has stated that it will be releasing both Wi-Fi only and 3G variants in the region but we don’t think India will be getting the Wi-Fi only version.

Samsung has also revealed that it also plans to launch Galaxy Beam projector phone in South-West Asia in May. There is no word whether India will get it too.

Galaxy Tab 2 with ICS

Samsung just launched the Galaxy Tab 2, the official sequel to its original tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Whereas the original Tab was criticized for running an up-scaled phone operating system rather than one designed specifically for a tablet, the new Tab leaps forward to Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”(ICS), the most recent Google mobile OS, designed for phones and tablets.

Galaxy Tab sports 1 GHz dual core processor with both 3G and WiFi connectivity. The Galaxy Tab 2 has a 1,024 x 600-pixel screen that measures seven inches (more screen sizes are sure to follow). It’s Samsung’s first tablet to run IceCream Sandwich. With the latest Android comes useful features like an improved interface that allows users to swipe-control apps and the ability to unlock the phone just by looking at it via Face Unlock.

You also get an OS that’s designed from the ground up to run on tablets as well as smartphones — unlike some other devices such as the Kindle Fire, which run a version of Android that was originally meant for phones. That means most functions should run smoothly and the few Android apps designed specifically for tablets will really shine.

The Galaxy Tab 2 will also become the first mobile device from Samsung to ship with its AllShare Play service. AllShare Play allows users to stream multimedia content to the tablet from their PCs, Samsung smartphones, or third-party cloud drives. The service also supports device-to-device and device-to-cloud transfers.

Samsung also says the Tab 2 has improved social abilities. Being an Android device, Google+ integration is seamless and includes the ability to start hangouts “spontaneously.” There’s also integration with Samsung’s ChatON service, which is similar to BlackBerry Messenger or iMessage, leveraging the device’s data connection to start chats of send instant messages cheaply and easily.
